BEACHES

The beaches are wide, sand and shingle, with clear water and excellent access to the sea, which in turn makes them particularly suitable for families with children. They are located 1-3 km from Novalja, forming a ring around it.

DRY-STONE FENCES

The dry-stone walls serve as natural borders between patches; they are high enough to prevent sheep from jumping over, and strong enough to stand against the bora winds. The dry-stone fence with its shapes, surface, appearance and purpose, is one of the most representative examples of native folk architecture.

LUN OLIVE GROVES

This area covered in wild olives is the only one of its kind in the Adriatic and is highly botanically valuable. In 1963, owing to its unique properties, it was designated as a botanical reserve. The oldest olive tree in the Olive Gardens of Lun has been around for over 2,000 years.

PAG LACE

A miracle of Croatian folk art on the island of Pag. It is a type of lacework that requires a needle, thread and backing which is a round or square hard stuffed pillow. Lace-makers of Pag did their teg (work) without any drawings. Each woman used works from her mother and grandmothers as examples, each adding a personal touch, something unique and special. In 2009, Pag lace was registered in the list of intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.

THE ANCIENT AQUEDUCT

The ancient aqueduct in Novalja is the most important archaeological heritage of the island. It is an underground canal - the tunnel, which was built in the 1st century AD during the Roman Empire. It served for supply of water from the sources in the nearby Novalja field. Today it is preserved in the length of 1042 m.
