The dry-stone fences serve as natural borders between patches; they are high enough to prevent sheep from jumping over, and strong enough to stand against the bora winds. The dry-stone fence with its shapes, surface, appearance and purpose, is one of the most representative examples of native folk architecture.
VELIKO BLATO – ORNITHOLOGICAL RESERVE
The ornithological reserve Veliko blato, is a shelter for a wide variety of marsh birds, especially during the period of nesting, migration and hibernation. Experts have so far documented 143 bird varieties on the locality and compiled a bird check-list. The reserve Veliko blato is an important location for bird-watching and related activities.
LUN OLIVE GROVES
The Lun olive groves represent a peaceful oasis and one of the most picturesque and beautiful spots. This area covered in wild olives is the only one of its kind in the Adriatic and is highly botanically valuable. In 1963, owing to its unique properties, it was designated as a botanical reserve. The oldest olive tree in the Olive Gardens of Lun has been around for over 2,000 years.
PAG LACE
A miracle of Croatian folk art on the island of Pag. It is a type of lacework that requires a needle, thread and backing which is a round or square hard stuffed pillow. Lace-makers of Pag did their teg (work) without any drawings. Each woman used works from her mother and grandmothers as examples, each adding a personal touch, something unique and special. In 2009, Pag lace was registered in the list of intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
THE ANCIENT AQUEDUCT
The ancient aqueduct in Novalja is the most important archaeological heritage of the island. It is an underground canal - the tunnel, which was built in the 1st century AD during the Roman Empire. It served for supply of water from the sources in the nearby Novalja field. Today it is preserved in the length of 1042 m.
